Ib2K8: I Learned in Amsterdam..

May 29th, 2008

- COFEESHOP is different from Café

- houses were taxed depending on their width

- There is three red light districts in Amsterdam

- Mushrooms along side with Marijuana are decriminalized, but not legal

- Prostitutes rent the windows for 60-200 Euro for 6-8h and charges 50 Euro for 10-25min

- “XXX” Stands for the three disasters Amsterdam went through, which is fire, flood and disease

- The houses are tilted a little bit to the front so they can lift stuff up with-out breaking the windows

- The Blue light district branches out from the red light district and girls in there aren’t necessarily girls! Usually girls that have blue neon lights offer something more, kinkier

- The old church that is in the red district has always been there along with the red light district. The reason is back in the days fisher men come for the girls, the second day they feel bad for sinning, so they go to the church asking for forgiveness and the only way for that was to pay money for the church. So it was a win-win!

Ibn Batota 2K8: The Backpack

May 20th, 2008

My backpack has finally arrived and it’s absolutely fantastic. I had done extensive research about backpacks before I settled on the “Eagle Creek Explorer LT”. The hard part of selecting a backpack is deciding on the size of the the backpack. I didn’t want to have a huge because I’m going to fill it with lots of unnecessary stuff and I didn’t want it to be too small that I can’t fit anything in. After looking at different backpacks, I found 4200 cu. to be the prefect size for me.

I was looking for a backpack that:
- Has a day pack attached, a small backpack to carry around.
- opens 3/4 and not filled from the top, easy access.
- Light weight
- Compact size with a good capacity
- A place to attach my my sleeping bag
- Made of good material
- Lockable zips

Eagle creek was the ultimate choice for me since it has all i needed in a backpack. I got it for $187.5 from Amazon.com, while it was selling for $250 everywhere else, good deal!
