Dear Flog: Gomez-NYC

March, 2007
A year and few months ago me and couple of my friends decided to go and spend the first weekend of the spring break in NYC, where Gomez, a band, was playing at the webster hall that friday. So, we got the tickets and headed north. We didn’t have any reservations and we were hoping that one of our friends in NYC would invite as to stay at their apartment. After few calls on the road, we found a place to spend the nights at.
We arrived in Manhattan at around 4pm. My GPS stopped working, so we had to use our common sense and stop by 7 eleven and get a map. After few rounds we found our way to their apartment. We dropped our stuff and parked my car in one of the those places that take your car in an elevator to a hidden place! And then we went to “Webster Hall” were the show was.

We starting socializing and looking for people that we might know. Anyways, I found myself talking to this girl while waiting for the bathroom. She told me that she used to study in Kuwait during high-school, and after couple question we found that we share some common friends, WEIRD!
After the show ended, we went to a restaurant/pub only to find Gomez are sitting next to us. Well, it wasn’t pure coincidence, in another word, we had some connection. I sneaked out as the crowd statred to got so obnoxious. I sat and talked to the bartender for the rest of the night, It was a pretty intelectual conversation. He told me about his trip to Israel and how surprised he is that the Jews over there are more racist than the arabs. Although he was Jewish himself, he had a tattoo of “Hanthalah”, which had kind of surprised me.

We went back home around 4am in the morning. I was so tired that I didn’t realize that I was sleeping at wavy shaped couch! I woke up a few hours later to find myself surrounded by drunk people that I don’t know sleeping at the couches beside me, I pretended that I was dreaming and fall back into sleep.
Next morning we woke up, had a bagel and started a new adventure in NYC
