The Art of Photography

If you’re a photographer trying to take an artistic picture, then try to think about the story you want to deliver through your picture before proceeding the work. Nicely taken pictures don’t stand out if they were purpose less. You might enjoy the beats in a song, but the words could be crappy!
Creativity and story line are the most important aspects in photography. If you’re trying to be an artistic in your pictures then don’t take pictures just for the sake of taking them!
Look at other artists arts, try to understand them and penetrate the photographer mind. As weird as it might sounds, it’s the most enjoyable thing I’ve been introduced to. It’s good to know how to take good pictures, but what will that do for you if your pictures doesn’t mean anything?
P.S. Pictures by Gail Albert Halaban

Interesting post. I don’t think I get what you’re trying to say here, though.
When I look at a picture taken by someone else, I can’t see how good he is. I mean I can’t see his vision or the story behind the picture from the photographer’s perspective, I just see it with my own eyes and I see the things I wanna see without really caring for the artist’s plan or what I should be seeing.
I think true artists make their mark with great technical knowledge and by taking lots of pictures. There is no ‘perfect picture’ nor ‘a story behind a picture’ in my opinion. coz it all depends on the viewers interpretation. for example, I see nothing artistic in the 2 pictures shown above, actually, I find them very bland and lifeless. That does not mean everybody should feel this way, but it means that not everything is relatable. sometimes its not how good you are at taking pictures but how good the scene you’re trying to capture.
I don’t know where I’m going with this, but I guess all i’m trying to say is that whats considered ‘artistic’ by me can be considered rubbish in another person’s opinion.
As long as its new and you’re doing your own thing, its all good.
“As weird as it might sounds, it’s the most enjoyable thing I’ve been introduced to.”
I don’t find it weird at all! got me all intrigued! :)

I agree with you, the point of the post is not clear enough. Let me try again.
I totally agree with all what you said, people looks at art differently. At first, we should distinguish between the different type of photography.
There is documentary photography, where 90% of the picture value is at the quality of the picture. And the pictures are mostly used to complement a story or report or to keep a record of a trip.
And there is the “Artistic” photography, which includes narrative photography, nude photography, fictional photography and many more. To have your pictures be classified as an art and be able to display them in a respective art shows then they at least should have a story or a rhythm that you can follow. For example, you just can’t bring a girl and ask her to take her clothes off, take a picture of her and call this to be an artistic shot!
Couple summers ago, I took an intense photography class. One of the assignments we had was to bring a picture that has an artistic value and write an argumentative paper why and how this picture has a value. Maybe this is why I’m all heated about this topic =)
Here is my try of being artistic. It might be a better example. http://boz.bloboz.net/2006/07/18/project-101/
