Leonardo da Vinci

leonardo di vinci vitruvian man

I graduated from high school without learning anything about any artist including Leonardo da Vinci.
It’s sad but that is that is the reality. During elementary school, we drew pictures using water colors, usually about Kuwait and our families. Junior high, I don’t even remember having an art classes! High school, I had one Art class as an elective and I don’t remember learning anything!

My first visit to the MoMA in NYC was a joke. I didn’t appreciate anything and I made fun of those who were staring at pictures forever! I just didn’t get it. It seems like I’ve lost my sense of art, or maybe I didn’t have any at the first place!

After I found myself lonely in the world of stupidity, I dragged myself to go with my friends to “First Friday art walk” here in Richmond every month. I started appreciating art more and more, and look beyond what the artist had scrapped on the paper. I started looking up artists online and reading about their work. After only a couple years from my first visit to the MoMa I admit that “Art is a wonderful thing.”

One of my favorite arts is the “Vitruvian Man” by Leonardo da Vinci, it’s amazing how he mixed art with science to come up with such an incredible pace of art.

Who is your favorite artist? Why?

Holocaust-ism

Holocoust museum in DC

I am thrilled by the amount of effort that has been put into the holocaust museum in DC. It’s a four floor museum, full of pictures, videos and models.

We spent three hours and needed at least couple more hours to finish the whole thing. You start the museum on the fourth floor and proceed to the first floor. It’s dark and quiet. It seemed like we were walking through a funeral!

I finished the museum with mixed feelings. I didn’t know how I felt about the whole thing! For sure I feel sorry about what happened to the Jews during that time, but shall I hate the Germans too? Shall I feel sorry for the Jews today and justify all what they are doing because they’ve been victimized in the past?

I would love to hear you opinion, so I can get my feelings straight.

Sí Tapas - RVA

Si

My first impression was “This restaurant must be the best”. I really liked the intimate and cozy atmosphere. Despite Spaniards being famous meat eaters a third of the tapas menu was devoted to vegetarians. We ended up getting a spicy hummus, prawns and exotic mushrooms with lentils and almonds. The hummus was excellent, definitely above average, Jess loved the exotic mushrooms, I thought the prawns were mediocre, the skin was too difficult to remove from the flesh. The dessert was small, but good. The pear was delicious and would have been better coupled with vanilla icecream instead of the tart sorbet… The portions were small, which we both liked, except that for the size they were way over-priced.
Jessica didn’t like how you could see through the frosty glass to the bathroom, but I loved it!

St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patric day

Honestly, I had no clue what St. Patrick’s Day was about.  All I knew was that people dress in green clothing, get drunk in the middle of day and cops are everywhere.
Anyways, I found myself obligated to go and celebrate my Irish roots -Through a friend’s mom- and see what is it like to be an Irish.

Once I hit the festival I saw a lady laying on the ground. Apparently, she got alcohol poisoned after drinking a whole keg. I guess being an Irish isn’t that fun after all!

Shamshiry - DC

March 14th, 2008

Shamshiry Resturant

The best Persian restaurant in the United States and Canada. The food is so great and original, it hasn’t been americanized yet. The only problem I found is like most of the Persian restaurants in the USA the sit down place isn’t so appealing! If they had worked on that a little bit it would make a big difference.

Evolution

My Cow =)

How do I know evolution is real? Look around you carefully and notice all those people that haven’t evolved yet behaving like animals.

It took me a while to realize it, but getting offended and insulted so easily is so stupid by all means.

Read, read and read some more. It will make you more tolerant
