Torrenting 101
My mom asked me to show her how to download TV shows from the Internet. I did try to explain it for her verbally, but I think it would be much easier to post it illustrated over here, for a future reference.
It doesn’t differ so much from downloading directly from any website other than having a program to mange downloads. One of the best program to mange downloads is Azures (Download)
Now, after having the program ready. We need to get a website to get the Shows from. Here are a list of the websites I use.
- Torrent Spy (Has some graphic ads)
- Torrent Reactor (Clean)
- Mini Nova (Clean)
- The Pirate Bay (Clean)
Downloading in Action:
- Visit one of the website on the pervious list, I choose torrent spy.
- Type in the blank field whatever you want to download
- You will get so many results, and now you have to choose what best fit you, for example if you were looking for “Lost” the show, you better not to download the one been categorized under Adults section!
- Always download the one has higher health
- Seeders = people have the files COMPLETED 100%
- Peers = People are still downloading the files
- There is a certain way to read the file name. For example, Lost.S03E06.HDTV.XviD-XOR [eztv], means you are downloading Lost, S03E06 = Season 3 Episode 6, HDTV = High Definition TV
- Click at the file you want to download, it will get you to the file page
- Before you download the file, it’s always good to go over the comments, sometimes the file get looked and a password needed, or it might be a bad file
- Download the file, I recommend you to save it at the disk top
- The file you downloaded from the website should be look like this
- Double click on it. It should automatically open Azures
- If clicking on the file didn’t work, then you have to open Azures, go to file, and click on open torrent. Now you should get the dialog shown in the picture above, click at “Add file” button, and select the file you downloaded
- Select where you want to save the files at
- OK
- As you notice, there is two sections in the tracking page, the top part is what you are downloading, the bottom part is what you are uploading (Sending to people)
- Gray = It’s now downloading
- Red = Something wrong
- Yellow = It’s downloading but ..
- Green = Everything is Perfect
- Now, kick back, relax and enjoy the show =)
Tips and Hints:
- Seeders are better than Peers
- You may need DivX to run some movies
- You may need java to run Azures
- Dial-up won’t work 8-( It will take forever
- Read the comments on the file page before you download it
- Try to play the movie you are downloading while it’s downloading, to check if it was what you want. Once I downloaded a 2.6GB Movie, and what I got was a Chinese wrestling clip repeated over and over again! It was painful experience ;\

i really like the new version. Your Blog become successful because of non-specificity and passion. You dont have a single focus about only one topic, and thats made ur blog more intresting and enjoyable. Dont ever let anybody to disappoint u coz Reader comments and views are a significant evidence in your popularity. Due to the fact that People who leave comments build the community aspect that really helps ur site become more than just one blogger writing into space. Comments let you know what’s working and what’s not, so i think most ur posts are working so good man !! be proud of ur self

booz.. use utorrent, it’s much lighter and better, those swedish have some brains!
They blocked torrentspy.com two days on United Networks. Lamers.

Q8ari ®, be sure you to turn off your firewall as it may block your computer to communicate with the torrent. , try to downloan some other files that has a very good health if it worked, then the error is from the file you downloaded =)
